Mental Health Supervisor

Position Duties:
- Completes initial assessments, and regularly reassesses participants for progress.
- Supports and demonstrates program efforts to provide high-quality, culturally responsive health services to the Native and local communities.
- Reviews all assessments completed by other providers.
- Participates in professional/cultural development activities.
- Engages participants in a collaboration to create an individualized service plan (compliant with Federal/State requirements) which identifies goals and methods of achievement, and regularly evaluates for progress.
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy utilizing various psychological techniques and therapeutic framework that emphasizes a holistic approach to care.
- Reviews all mental health service plans and crisis plans.
- Provides crisis intervention services and interventions; creates safety plans with at-risk participants, and helps participants identify additional supports to maintain personal safety.
- Provides referrals and resources for participants to psychiatrists, medical providers, or other psychological providers to address additional participant needs.
- Collaborates with community partners and provides appropriate referrals for participants to needed resources.
- Organizes curriculum and learning material for group sessions and facility activities.
- Maintains all documentation in accordance with Federal and State laws and participates in internal audits to ensure quality and fidelity.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and appropriateness and supports participant spirituality.
- Provides coverage when there are absences, or the agency has other service needs (occasional service outside of regular business hours).
- Attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required.
- Provides supervision, including development planning and activities.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or psychiatric nursing.
- Must be licensed as an LCSW or LPC
- Experience working within American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities preferred. Experience with and knowledge of culturally responsive practice methods also preferred.
- Must understand the Disease Model of substance abuse; must understand the impact of trauma on behavioral and mental health.
- CADC certification preferred.
- Must understand and thoroughly apply the applicable Code of Ethics as per education and licensure.
- Must have the ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with service recipients, co-workers, and the community.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with team members, participants, and the community.
- Must treat others with empathy, dignity and respect at all times.
- If recovering, must have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, DMV check, and pre-employment drug testing.
- Must be able to pass random drug screening throughout time of employment.

- Provides case management services as needed for assigned service recipients.
- Collaborates with community partners and provides appropriate referrals for participants to needed resources.
- Facilitates assigned group sessions, and providing documentation for each session.
- Organizes curriculum and learning material for group sessions and facility activities.
- Provides education about self-help groups and the recovery community
- Completes reporting for referents on a timely basis, and works collaboratively with referents in service planning.
- Collaborates with each participant on creation of a personalized relapse prevention plan and a discharge plan
- Maintains all documentation in accordance with Federal and State laws, and participates in internal audits to ensure quality and fidelity.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and appropriateness, and supports participant spirituality.
- Provides coverage when there are absences or the agency has other service needs (occasional service outside of regular business hours).
- Attends all staff meetings and other meetings as required.
- Participates in supervision, including development planning and activities.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
- Must be at least a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I, with at least two years’ experience as a substance abuse counselor.
- Must understand the Disease Model of substance abuse; must understand the impact of trauma on behavioral and mental health.
- Must have experience and knowledge of working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system
- Must demonstrate knowledge about self-help and community support programs
- Must understand and thoroughly apply the MHACBO Code of Ethics and other relevant codes of ethics as per education and license.
- Must have the ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with service recipients, co-workers, and the community.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with team members, participants, and the community.
- Must treat others with empathy, dignity and respect at all times.
- If recovering, must have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety.
